I’d just like to bring to your attention a really amazing piece by Joey Carr, a recent grad of SAIC.  Probably one of the best student pieces I’ve seen out of my school. Engaging, meditative, visceral… And how about that boxer at the end? Holy shit.

The exact moment when Toy Story 3 made you cry. In...
The other day, I was at work, which basically entails slowly walking the entire perimeter of the store and asking people if they are finding their plastic interlocking blocks alright. About five minutes into my shift, I had reached the Toy Story section. Unfortunately, we don’t have all the Toy Story sets. We only have Buzz Lightyear’s spaceship, some army guys, a train, and that...

So this is my first tumblr post in months. I’d just like to say that MUSE, A PERFECT CIRCLE, DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979, and EMINEM WERE FUCKING INSANE.  Those Lolla tickets were $215 well spent.  DEADMAU5 tomorrow!

So I’m working on two videos at the moment:  - a test short for something I plan on making later down the road, a “proof of concept”, if you will. It’s a sci-fi drama. - a strange film with Taylor Wood that I can only describe as a Surreal Grindhouse Children’s Action Sci-Fi Clusterfuck. It’s like Die Hard meets Rugrats meets Pulp Fiction by way of the Matrix....

Honestly, at the end of the day, all I have to say is:  Does the end justify the means?

- Drew 46 rough sketches for my storyboards due Tuesday. Need to color and outline them by then. - Shooting a torture scene in the studio on Wednesday. Or, at least, that was my plan, until I realized I no longer like the concept. So I’m completely retooling it. - Trying to wrap up a 60 page screenplay. - Two essays due Thursday. - Have to finish my application for Columbia by the end of...

A great music video from one of my favorite bands. I am absolutely in love with all of the director, Martin de Thurah’s, work.

Fucking Gummo. I’ve seen this movie about 6 times, the sixth time being today. Every time I watch this film it ends with me feeling like absolute crap. Harmony Korine is one of those filmmakers who really knows, at least, in the case of Gummo and Kids, what people in America like to ignore about life in this country. His films make me feel like shit. But it’s a good feeling. Because...

My Top Five Films of 2010
5. Buried (dir. Rodrigo Cortes) This film takes place inside a wooden box. At first I thought it was like all the other gimmicky “high concept” indie films I’ve seen in the vein of Paranormal Activity and Frozen, but after seeing it, color me impressed. A film that takes place in a wooden box that manages to be suspenseful, well-written, and beautifully shot is quite the...

My latest piece. An experimental short dealing with the effects of empathetic (sound that ilicits a reaction, tells you how to feel, in relation to the imagery it is set to) and un-empathetic (sound that does not tell the audience how to feel in relation to the imagery, rather, leaves it open to interpretation) sound. The short contains two videos, both of them identical to the other. It...
